| Today January 22, 2009 We visited the Manatee Park in Ft. Myers, FL. About 75 manatees were in the canal between the power plant and the Orange River. They visit the area due to the warm water produced by the power plant. Many had babies and many were injured by boats in the past. Florida Wildlife was trying to lure and capture an injured manatee. They are large gentle animals that move slowly. Click on the photos to the right to read about manatees. |
